About the Opportunity

Ketza Pacific is currently seeking a highly organized and diligent Project Manager to join our team based in Campbell River, BC.

In this role, you will provide project management oversight for all phases of commercial/industrial projects including coordinating employees, subcontractors, materials, and equipment. You will also ensure that specifications are being followed and work is proceeding with quality, on schedule, and within budget.

More specifically, your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Developing a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of projects by following a logical pattern for utilization of resources
  • Minimizing exposures and risk by implementing and auditing safety standards and quality assurance controls
  • Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed
  • Supervising assistant managers and superintendents, reviewing their reports, checking on any unreported difficulties, and correcting any safety violations or other reported deficiencies
  • Tracking and controlling construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of projects within time and budget.
  • Managing day-to-day client interactions and expectations, either directly or in a supervisory role
  • Managing the project team for the execution of the projects

About You

To qualify for this role you will need to have at least five years of project management experience complimented with previous experience in the construction industry and experience using both MS Project and MS Office.

Experience using Bluebeam, working under CCDC Contract structures, and the ability to learn new programs is certainly an asset. Some travel will also be required for this role.  

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. You will also have strong interpersonal, negotiating, and stakeholder management skills which allow you to work under pressure to coordinate numerous activities and groups of people simultaneously.

Project Profile: Salmon River Diversion

This challenging project involved decommissioning and demolition of the Salmon River Diversion Dam for BC Hydro. The purpose of this project was to give the river back to the spawning Steelhead and Salmon that migrate to the river each year. Instream works of this project had to be completed within a spawning window of July 1st to September 15th. Ketza managed to pull off an extreme amount of work in this short timeline effectively. In addition, any fish that did arrive during this window was salvaged and transported up or down the river. Some of the key figures include: 80M litres of water treated; 43,000 plus man hours; 22,000 metric tonnes of materials removed; 1,200 tonnes of creosote timber removed; 40,000 kg of steel removed; and 4,394 fish were salvaged.
